Shakib-al-Hasan CHEEKILY Trolls Virender Sehwag After Heroics During T20 WC 2024 Match vs Netherlands
While interacting with the media after his scintillating knock versus South Africa, he was asked to address the criticism on him by Sehwag. To that, he said, "Who Sehwag?"
New York: Former India opener Virender Sehwag slammed Bangladesh star Shakib-al-Hasan over his performance against Sri Lanka. Shakib went wicketless against the Lankan side and hence Sehwag reckoned that the Bangladeshi cricketer should feel ‘ashamed’. Now, after his heroics versus Netherlands, where he scored a 46-ball 64, he got back at the former India opener.
While interacting with the media after his scintillating knock versus Netherlands, he was asked to address the criticism on him by Sehwag. To that, he said, “Who Sehwag?”
“A player never comes to answer any questions,” Shakib hit back.
“A player’s job is to bat for the team if he’s a batsman and contribute to the team. If he is a bowler, his job is to bowl well. The wicket is about luck. If he is a fielder, he should save each run and take as many catches as he can. Here, actually, there’s nothing to answer for anyone,” he added.
“I think it is important for a current player (to see) how much he can contribute to his team. When he can’t contribute, then naturally there would be discussions and I don’t think it is a bad thing,” he said further.
Bangladesh beat the Netherlands by 25 runs in a Group D clash and put themselves on the verge of qualification for the Super 8 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup here on Thursday. Bangladesh and the Netherlands were in the hunt for the second qualifying spot from the Group with South Africa assured their place in the Super Eight with three wins in three matches.
