Sharmin Segal Admits Watching Heeramandi Only Once: ‘I Don’t Like Over-Watching’

New Delhi: Sharmin Segal‘s performance in the period drama Heeramandi, helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, wasn’t warmly received by the viewers. Upon witnessing the backlash post-release last month, Sharmin decided to turn off the comments on her Instagram. During her recent chat with News18, she confessed her tendency to self-scrutinise, especially when she reviews her own acting repeatedly. Read on to find more details.

Sharmin Segal Reveals Watching SLB’s Heeramandi ‘Just Once’

Talking to the media agency Sharmin Segal said, “I’ve watched Heeramandi just once because I don’t like over-watching my work. I only watch as much as required. You do get feedback and you need to reflect on everything that’s being said to you because as an actor, you don’t always get to go to the monitor and see what you’ve done (sic).”

The Heeramandi actress further added, “It’s so different to watch your own work, Heeramandi in this case, because I tend to watch it from a certain perspective. You tend to get critical of yourself. I get so shy and giggly when I watch myself onscreen. My cheeks also turn red (sic)!”

About Sharmin Segal’s Performance

After the release of Heeramandi, Sharmin’s role has ignited debates, unfortunately, for less favourable reasons. A number of folks have indicated her for her seemingly rude behaviour towards her fellow stars; Aditi Rao Hydari and Sanjeeda Shaikh, in multiple interviews. Furthermore, chatter amongst the social media crowds questions her securing of the role, insinuating a potentially nepotistic advantage, given she’s the niece of Sanjay.

Multiple co-stars from SLB’s period drama had their own point of view of seeing Sharmin being trolled on social media. Many thought that it was the ‘decision of the audience that they express.’ While other actors defended, Bhansali’s niece during her heavy trolling on social media.

The much-anticipated Season 2 of ‘Heeramandi’ is set to go on floors, boasting stars like Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Prathibha Ranta, Adhyayan Suman, Farida Jalal, and Indresh Malik. The series befits the historical context of India’s struggle for independence and vividly illustrates the fierce tensions between the star-crossed courtesans of Lahore’s Heeramandi and the British Raj authorities.
