‘Sushant Wanted to Eat Mutton, Was Troubled by Blind Articles’: Manoj Bajpayee Reveals Talking to SSR 10 Days Before His Death

Mumbai: Actor Manjo Bajpayee recently took a moment to remember his late co-star, Sushant Singh Rajput. The actor has begun the promotions for his upcoming film ‘Bhaiyyaji’ and during one such promotional interaction, he recalled his last conversation with SSR. Bajpayee worked with Rajput in the 2019 bandit drama ‘Sonchiriya’ and shared a good equation. In his latest interview, he mentioned how Sushant would feel troubled by the blind articles and gossip being published about him in various media houses. The senior actor added that he spoke to him 10 days before his death and he seemed worried about these blind pieces.

While speaking to Siddharth Kanan, Bajpayee said, “Sushant was quite troubled by blind articles, i.e., articles with no truth behind them. He was very good person, and anyone who is good will be troubled by such articles. He would often ask me what he should do. I always told him not to think too much about it (sic).” The actor went on to add how he would support Sushant by telling him that he would beat everyone writing these blind news articles. “I have a different way of dealing with those who publish such blind articles. I would meet people and ask them to tell those writing blind pieces that I’d come and beat them up. He used to laugh a lot at this. He would say, ‘sir, only you can do this’.” Manoj Bajpayee also recalled a happy memory of Sushant waiting to relish the mutton cooked by him. “He would always tell me, ‘Sir, I want to eat the mutton made by me’. I would say that when I make it, I will definitely feed you,” he said in a joyous voice.

Manoj Bajpayee on speaking to Sushant Singh Rajput 10 days before he died

“His death occurred just 10 days later. I was surprised. I still can’t believe that Sushant and Irrfan Khan are gone. They both left too soon. Their time was yet to come,” Bajpayee concluded as he highlighted how Sushant had a tremendously successful career ahead and there’s so much that he could have done with his skill set and potential.

Sushant died on June 30, 2020 at his rented apartment in Bandra, Mumbai. The actor’s death created a mystery and the entire nation flocked to social media, demanding justice for him. The pressure led the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the case. It’s been around four years but nothing concrete has emerged from the probe and CBI continues to investigate the death case.
