This New Rideshare Company Is Packing Heat and Drawing Customers

A new rideshare company is betting you won’t mind getting into a vehicle with a gun-toting driver.
Black Wolf, a ridesharing app that’s opened up in Atlanta, offers a personal security ride experience complete with armed drivers.

One week into the Atlanta launch, it seems Black Wolf has resonated with security-minded riders with over 80,000 mobile app downloads, according to Atlanta News First.
"I kind of created this app to be very exclusive," company founder Kerry King Brown told Fox and Friends on March 24. "I'm not competing with Uber, not competing with Lyft because we have a different path. We have a different goal, and our goal is to make sure that we secure each rider."
Brown, a former bodyguard and private investigator, and reportedly a former bodyguard for U.S. Congresswomen Marjorie Taylor Green (R-Ga.) said “things happen” in ride-share vehicles and his new startup “and that’s why I created Black Wolf.”
The armed driver escort is one of three service tiers provided by Black Wolf. The company offers “Armed Executive Protection”, “Unarmed Executive Protection”, and “School Executive Protection”, a child safety-oriented rideshare service.
Brown said all of the company’s drivers have to pass a background check to be legally armed and must have experience in the military, law enforcement, or private security.
Rideshare customers have to plunk down $60 for an armed driver, with an additional $1.75 per mile. Unarmed drivers cost $50 plus the $1.75 mileage fee.
For any customer who second thoughts about getting into a vehicle with an armed stranger, Black Wolf offers GPS tracking and LiveStreaming services so riders can “share with their loved ones,” the company noted on its Facebook page.
The company reportedly has plans to open in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Miami.
