Tiku Talsania reveals he's 'slightly jobless', still gives audition when required

Veteran actor Tiku Talsania, who has been tickling our funny bones since the 90s, revealed that he’s ‘slightly jobless’ and not getting suitable roles. The actor has been part of more than 200 films and shared screen with Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Govinda and Ajay Devgn, among others. Now, in an interview with The Indian Express, Tiku Talsania has opened up about his struggle to survive in the film industry.

The 69-year-old comic actor added that he still gives audition and has been waiting for people to call and offer him good work.

What Tiku Talsania said

Speaking about the changing era in films, Tiku Talsania said that everything has become story-oriented now. “Gone are the times where there used to be formula films with cabaret dance, two love songs and the comedian doing his bit and going away. Everything has changed now. It has become story-oriented. So unless you become a part of the story or get to play a character of a person whose story is knitted with the story, you don’t get work.”

He went on to add, “I am slightly jobless right now. I want to work, but the right kind of roles are not coming my way.” Tiku further said that he has been seeking work on a regular basis. If he is required to go for an audition, he does, revealed the veteran actor.

Tiku asserted that post-pandemic, working principle has been disrupted and that people have become sharper. “It’s become beautiful and I like the way we have to approach work now. I am waiting for people to call me. I am also sending out feelers that I am an actor looking for work. If there is a suitable role, then I’d love to do it. That’s the kind of approach we have,” he added.

Notably, Tiku has been part of iconic films like Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin (1991), Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1993), Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Coolie No. 1 (1995), Raja Hindustani (1996), Ishq (1997), Judwaa (1997), Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1998) and so on. While he is celebrated as a comic actor, his non-comic memorable role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2002 period romance Devdas has a different fanbase. The veteran star has also featured in fairly recent movies like Hungama (2003) and Dhamaal (2007).
