War 2: Hrithik Roshan and Junior NTR's face-off in YRF's next film in spy universe to happen on Independence Day 2025

In a major update for cinephiles, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR starrer highly anticipated film ‘War 2‘ has finally got a release date. Following Hrithik Roshan’s cameo as Kabir in Salman Khan’s Tiger 3, fans have been already super-excited and the announcement has taken that excitement to another level.

The makers have reportedly announced that the film will be released on the Independence Day 2025 weekend. As per media reports, Yash Raj films will be releasing the film on 14, August 2025. Notably, the update came days after a piece of news started making rounds that actress Kiara Advani has been also roped in for the film.

War 2 gets a release date

The sixth film in the blockbuster Spy Universe, War 2 is being looked forward to with much more anticipation as it brings the never-seen pair of Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, leaving fans in a state of frenzy. The makers were reportedly opting for a Republic Day weekend release for the film, however, now it seems that it has been pushed to the Independence Day weekend.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Wednesday shared a post on his X handle and confirmed the news. “YRF ANNOUNCES ‘WAR 2’ RELEASE DATE: INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND 2025… The sixth film from #YRFSpyUniverse – #War2 – now has a release date… Get ready for mayhem at the #Boxoffice on 14 Aug 2025 [Thursday]… #AyanMukerji directs the film that’s produced by #YRF,” he wrote.

Talking about the film, the shoot for the first installment of the film has been reportedly wrapped up, while the second leg is reportedly underway at foreign locations. However, Jr NTR is yet to join the schedule.

As per reports, the RRR actor will start shooting for War 2 in January next year after wrapping up the shooting of his film, Devara: Part 1. While the prequel features Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff in lead roles and was directed by Siddharth Anand, the sequel is being helmed by Ayan Mukherji.

Backed by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films, the YRF Spy Universe is centred on a series of spy action-thrillers including Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3, and now War in the sequence.
