We Have Created World Record Of 642 Million Voters, Says CEC Rajiv Kumar On Lok Sabha Elections 2024

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday held a press conference in the national capital on the eve of vote counting in the general election 2014. During the conference, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar praised the voters of the country to come out in scorching heat to cast their votes. He also highlighted several historic milestones, including setting up a world record with 642 million registered voters in this polling season.

“We have created a world record of 642 million voters. This is 1.5 times voters of all G7 countries and 2.5 times voters of 27 countries in EU.” He also gave a standing ovation to all voters who took part in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

The election commissioner added that 2024 general elections witnessed fewer re-elections as compared to 540 in 2019 polls. “Due to the meticulous work of the election personnel we ensured fewer repolls – we saw 39 repolls in Lok Sabha polls 2024 as opposed to 540 in 2019 and 25 out of 39 repolls were in 2 States only,” he said.

Rajiv Kumar also highlighted that voter turnout in Jammu and Kashmir was the highest in the last four decades in the general polls.
