West Bengal: Magician PC Sorcar questioned by ED in chit fund case

According to an officer, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned renowned magician PC Sorcar (Junior) on Friday as part of their continuing investigation into an alleged chit fund scam in which investors were defrauded of over Rs 790 crore.

PC Sorcar claimed that as soon as he arrived at the ED office in Kolkata’s Salt Lake area on Friday afternoon, he was being questioned by ED officers on the scam that involved two businesses that the central agencies had named as Pincon Group and Tower Infotech Ltd.

“We are questioning Mr Sorcar in connection with the chit fund case. We have to find out whether he was involved in any way or not,” the ED officer was quoted as saying by PTI.

A few days ago, the ED had detained a top Tower Group official, and the person stated that during questioning, PC Sorcar’s name had come up.

The magician’s Ballygunge home was searched by the CBI in 2021 in relation to the same case.
