‘When J&K Was Plagued By Terrorism, They Enjoyed Coffee In Delhi’: Amit Shah Corners Congress, NC

Union home minister Amit Shah hit out at Congress-NC alliance, saying that if the latter is voted to power, terrorism cases will upward thrust in Jammu and Kashmir.

While addressing a public meeting in Jammu, Shah said,”Kashmir has suffered a lot from terrorism. There have been governments in Kashmir that turned blind eye to terrorism. There are people that will come here and used to be chief ministers when there used to be peace and when there used to be terrorism, they'd go to Delhi and drink coffee in coffee bars. The Bharatiya Janata Birthday party has done the work of decreasing terrorism by 70% in 10 years. After several years, the Amarnath Yatra used to be carried out fearlessly. After several years, night theatre started in the valley, Tazia procession used to be carried out in the valley. The people of Jammu and Kashmir especially the people of Jammu should come to a decision whether they want terrorism or peace, development. If NC and Congress come to power, terrorism will come and if BJP will come, then no person can infiltrate here.”

The home minister alleged that the National Conference and PDP liberate the terrorists who were concerned about stone-pelting.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “…They liberate people which are concerned about stone-pelting and terrorism. Their aim is to liberate them and convey terrorism to our Jammu, Poonch, Rajouri where there is peace. Tell me will you permit terrorism to return to Jammu, Poonch, Rajouri? They want cross-LoC trade to be resumed. Who will take benefit of of it?… They rename Shankaracharya Hill as Takht-e-Suleman. These three families- NC, Congress alliance and Mehbooba Mufti say they will supply autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir. I say that no power can talk about autonomy now.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the same fashion added, “I make it clear that the BJP will fight the elections with full strength and can win the elections… Those days are long past when somebody else decides whose government shall be formed, now the people of Jammu and Kashmir will come to a decision whose government shall be formed.”

Shah assured restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir after the assembly polls, which he said are the first below the national flag and the Constitution following the abrogation of Article 370 by the Modi government.
