In the second fixture of the Saturday double-header — the first of the 13th edition of cricket’s showpiece event — South Africa rode on blazing centuries from Quinton de Kock (100), Rassie van der Dussen (108) and Aiden Markram (106) to post 428/5 on the board.
The Proteas ended up breaking the record for the highest total in Men’s ICC World Cup history, surpassing Australia’s 417/6 against Ireland in 2015.
