3 killed, infant injured in Russian shelling, claims Ukraine

Three people were killed and at least twelve injured, including a two-month-old baby, in Kherson, southern Ukraine, on Monday as a result of Russian shelling that damaged homes and a hospital, according to local governor Oleksandr Prokudin.

Late last year, Russian forces withdrew from the area, abandoning Kherson and the western bank of the Dnipro River. However, they are now frequently bombarding those areas from their positions on the eastern bank. During the day, air alerts are typically issued to the locals.

An afternoon coordinated attack in the city’s centre resulted in the deaths of two individuals and the injuries of ten more, according to Prokudin.

“Eight vehicles, including one ambulance, an administrative building, a hospital, and at least fifteen houses were destroyed or damaged,” he stated.

In a video that Prokudin posted, structures with broken windows and shell holes are seen, along with piles of construction debris in the street and an entirely burned-out ambulance.

The governor stated in a different message that earlier on Monday in a Kherson suburb, a car was shot at, resulting in one death and wounding of a two-month-old child and his mother.

He shared a video of firefighters at the scene and said, “This burnt-out pile of scrap metal was the car that the family was returning from a medical examination just a few hours ago.”
