ODI World Cup: How India have performed in previous seven semi-finals

India are into their seventh ODI World Cup semi-final and will be taking on New Zealand on 15 November in the last four match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Coincidentally India met Kiwis in the 2019 World Cup semi-final also and suffered a heart-breaking 18-run loss which not only knocked the Men in Blue out of the tournament but also proved to be MS Dhoni’s last international match.

This time India have been in much better form, qualifying for the semi-final with a 100 percent record in the group stage. Virat Kohli leads the batting charts with 594 runs while Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer are also in the top 10. Among bowlers, India have Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja in the top 10 wicket-takers list.

The fact that India have so many players in top form has allowed India to win nine out of nine matches in the group stage. It started with a six-wicket win over Australia in Chennai followed by an eight-wicket victory against Afghanistan, a seven-wicket triumph over Pakistan and a seven-wicket win against Bangladesh.

New Zealand were defeated by four wickets at Dharamsala to break a 20-year drought in ICC events.

India then started batting first in their remaining matches and secured massive wins by the margins of 100 runs against England, 302 runs vs Sri Lanka, 243 runs against South Africa, and 160 runs against the Netherlands.
