Who Was Ebrahim Raisi, President Of Iran?

The eighth President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisolsadati, more popularly known as Ebrahim Raisi, was a principlist and a Muslim jurist, who became the Iranian President in 2021. In the judicial system of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi has held several positions including Deputy Chief Justice, Attorney General and Chief Justice; he has also been the Prosecutor and Deputy Prosecutor of Tehran. Raisi ran for President in 2017 but lost to Hassan Rouhani. In 2021, Raisi won the election with 63 percent of votes; many observers believe that the elections were rigged in his favour but this has not been proved.

Ebrahim Raisi was born on December 14, 1960 and his father had died when he was just five years old. After completing his primary education from Javadiyeh school, he started studying in Hawza and then went to Ayatollah Boroujerdi School. Ebrahim Raisi began studying at Qom Seminary at the age of 15.

As mentioned earlier, Ebrahim Raisi, the President of Iran has passed away in a helicopter crash. According to Iran’s Press TV, “Rescue teams identify President Ebrahim Raisi’s crashed chopper…No clue of any living persons in President Raeisi’s search following Sunday chopper crash.” A report by CNN has also cited the statement of the Iranian State News Agency IRINN and semi-official news agency Mehr News that ‘no survivors have been found’ in the search operations.
