New President Of Iran: In a unfortunate turn of events, Ebrahim Raisi, the President of Iran has lost his life in a deadly helicopter crash on May 19, 2024. The President, who had gone for the inauguration of a dam on the Aras River with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, was returning when his helicopter had a ‘hard landing’ in the city of Jolfa. After hours of search operations, the presidential chopper was found but unfortunately, there weren’t any survivors and it has been confirmed that Ebrahim Raisi is no more. The biggest question now is, Who Will Become the President of Iran after Ebrahim Raisi? To answer this question, Muhammad Mukhbar, who is currently serving as the Vice President of Iran will take Raisi’s place as mentioned in the Constitution of Iran. Who Will Become Next President Of Iran After Ebrahim Raisi Death?

As mentioned earlier, Ebrahim Raisi, the President of Iran has lost his life in the helicopter crash and amid these unfortunate turn of events, it is Muhammad Mukhbar, the Vice President of Iran who will become the Acting President of the country until a new President is formally elected. According to the Article 131 of the Islamic Republic’s Constitution, ‘If a President dies in office, the first vice president takes over, with the confirmation of the supreme leader, who has the final say in all matters of state’. The article further says, ‘A council consisting of the first vice president, the speaker of parliament and the head of the judiciary must arrange a election for a new president within a maximum period of 50 days.’

Meet Muhammad Mukhbar, Vice President Of Iran

If going by the Constitution, Muhammad Mukhbar will become the Acting President of Iran until a new President is formally elected. An Iranian politician, Muhammad Mukhbar was born in 1955 and has been currently serving as the Vice President of Iran. A member of the Expediency Discernment Council, Muhammad Mukhbar has been the former head of Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order (EIKO), Chairman of Board at Sina Bank and Deputy Governor of Khuzestan Province.

Muhammad Mukhbar has two doctoral degrees including a doctorate academic paper and a Masters in International Rights; he has a doctorate in management and an MA in management as well. Following the death of Ebrahim Raisi, Muhammad Mukhbar is expected to assume the role of Acting President of Iran according to the Constitution.
