India officially reached the 100-medal mark at the Asain Games 2023 Saturday as the women’s kabaddi team clinched gold. The Indian women’s kabaddi team defeated Chinese Taipei 26-25 in the gold medal match.

Earlier, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Aditi Gopichand Swami won gold and bronze respectively in the women’s compound archery individual event while Ojas Pravin Deotale and Abhishek Verma clinched gold and silver respectively in the men’s event.

Meanwhile, India will face Afghanistan in the men’s cricket gold medal match on Saturday, and Indian men and the Islamic Republic of Iran will lock horns in the kabaddi final.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will face Korea’s Choi Sol Gyu and Kim Won Ho in the men’s doubles badminton final.

India currently are in fourth place in the medal tally with a total of 100 medals. This is the first time India have touched the three-figure mark at Asian Games with their previous best being 70 in 2018.

The 100 medals accomplishment was celebrated on social media with congratulatory messages pouring in for the athletes. PM Narendra Modi led the celebrations with his post on X (formerly Twitter).
