Asia Cup 2023 Points Table: Pakistan beat Bangladesh by seven wickets to begin Super Fours with win
Pakistan got their Super Four campaign of the 2023 Asia Cup underway with a seven-wicket win over Bangladesh at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday.
Bangladesh had earlier won the toss and opted to bat first, but that move seemed to have backfired after Naseem Shah (three wickets) and Haris Rauf (four wickets) shared seven scalps between them to restrict Bangladesh to 193. All this despite skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim scoring fifties.
In reply, Pakistan lost Fakhar Zaman and skipper Babar Azam after a steady start, but Mohammad Rizwan (63*) and Imam-ul-Haq (78) scored fifties as they built an 85-run stand for the third wicket. That set the platform, and it was eventually Rizwan and Agha Salman who finished off the game with 63 balls to spare.

The tournament returns to the ODI format this year after having taken place in T20 mode in the UAE in 2022, effectively becoming a precursor to the ICC World Cup that takes place from 5 October to 19 November in India.
Asia Cup 2023: All you need to know

While Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has retained the hosting rights for the tournament, quite a few matches including the final had to be moved to Sri Lanka after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) refused to send the Indian team to Pakistan citing political tensions between the two nations.
