New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has stated that it will take all the necessary steps for the safety of players at the T20 World Cup 2024 after Cricket West Indies revealed on Monday the news of receiving terror threats from North Pakistan. Breaking silence on the matter, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla put the ball on the host country’s court also informed the players will be sent only after getting the green signal from the Central Government.

“As far as threat is concerned, the responsibility of security lies with the security agencies of the country that is hosting the game. Every precaution will be taken. We will take whatever steps are necessary for the safety of the players and spectators,” Shukla told reporters on Monday.

Shukla also informed that the BCCI is in touch with governments of USA and West Indies and will also consult with the security agencies. “We will talk to the agencies responsible for carrying out the World Cup. We will go according to the decision taken by the central government. We are in touch with WI and USA Govts,” he added.
