Britain fears over 10 citizens killed in Hamas attack on Israel

According to the BBC on Monday, which cited an official source, more than 10 Britons are presumed dead or missing in Israel. However, foreign minister James Cleverly stated he would not speculate on the number of Britons or dual nationals in the region.

The Foreign Office of Great Britain declined to comment on the report.

When asked about the number of British or dual British-Israeli nationals either dead or missing, or in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, Cleverly told reporters:

“The nature of Israeli citizenship means that there are a significant number of dual British-Israeli nationals, many of whom will have made their permanent home in Israel, many of whom will be serving with the Israeli defence force.

“So it’s not possible for us to give numbers and I do not intend to speculate.”

In a surprise strike on Saturday, the islamist organisation Hamas massacred 700 Israelis and kidnapped hundreds more.

A London-born soldier who was a member of the Israeli army passed away on Saturday near the Gaza border, according to his family. On Sunday, the Israel embassy in London said that a second British soldier was missing.
