“His aggression has in most cases come out in protection of his players and it truly is something the present lot of players will revel in. Knowing him, he is no longer somebody who gets angry for the heck of it,” Karthik told reporters on the sidelines of a Legends League Cricket event.

“I’m sure he'll have his turn with strong words for whoever or not it might probably be far required, and or not it might probably be far in his best interest to get the right kind out of the players,” he added. Karthik, on the opposite hand, said lacking coaching experience in Test cricket shall be on Gambhir’s mind as he enters his first assignment with the opening match against Bangladesh starting here on Thursday.

“He has been portion of various T20 tournaments. But this Test series shall be completely new for him as a coach and it should be playing on the back of his mind,” Karthik said. “He is somebody who has navigated through not easy waters. He’s got the acumen to have in mind the pulse of the game, which is critical as a coach.”

“He is at a really early stage as a coach, so it ought to be interesting the way it pans out. Alternatively, I believe that he'll deliver on all aspects. To this point, it has worked well for him,” Karthik added. “It'll start with a kind of self assurance from Bangladesh. (For India) it’s about figuring out that they are playing a slightly of different Bangladesh team,” he said. “But, India in India is a distinct kettle of fish to beat. It’s no longer going to be in any way as easy as when put next with going outside and beating other countries in their backyard.”

“Many teams have come to India and found it not easy and Bangladesh will also to find its challenges contained in the next couple of weeks,” he said. Karthik said India’s grit and resilience will make the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, starting on November 22 at Perth, a “wonderful series to observe”.

“The BGT shall be a challenge for Team India. The present Australian team is in form and (is) a pretty well-oiled unit. It’s no longer by chance that they won the World Test Championship,” he said. “It be often not easy for India. But allowing for the grit and resilience that India has, it ought to be a marvelous series to observe,” he added.
