Elon Musk Takes a Stand on a Growing Problem in Sports

The CEO of Tesla, who wants to defeat wokeism, has just taken a stand in the debate on the place of transgender people in sports.

Elon Musk is determined to defeat wokeism and all its guises.

For the billionaire entrepreneur, who has become one of the most influential personalities in the world, the "woke mind virus" is a plague that threatens our civilization and must therefore be defeated as soon as possible.

This "woke mind virus" is all the manifestations of progressive ideologies, namely anti-racism, equality between men and women, the fight against discrimination, the promotion of diversity, gender equality and gender identity -- often reduced to the use of preferred pronouns. Gender identity means, according to progressives, accepting the trans community and gender non-conforming people who are often discriminated against.

"Trans persons are particularly vulnerable to human rights violations when their name and sex details in official documents do not match their gender identity or expression," said the Office of the High Commissioner of the United Nations Human Rights (OHCHR).

The narrative of the anti-woke advocates is to affirm that this movement is equivalent to cancel culture, which amounts to a new form of intolerance as soon as one does not comply with the "new norms." 

However, the conservatives, who are at the forefront of anti-wokeism often forget that the movement was born out of a revolt by minorities, in the face of the discrimination to which they are subjected. 

Trans Athletes

One of the prime targets of anti-woke people, and Musk in particular, is the acronym ESG or environment, social and corporate governance. In recent years, many institutional investors have added this acronym in their investment policy to respond to calls for responsible investments demanded by climate change activists. To satisfy these investors, companies have made diversity a priority, even if the results are mixed, to say the least.

For anti-woke advocates, ESG is an evil that must be eradicated. Musk, who is pro-climate, is paradoxically at the head of this anti-woke movement.

"ESG is a scam. It has been weaponized by phony social justice warriors," Musk blasted last May.

The culture war is also played out on a front where the lines are less clear. It's about sports. The sticking point here is whether to allow gender diverse people and more specifically trans women to participate in sports competitions along with biological (cisgender) women.

In this debate, the essence of which is the definition of women, it is not uncommon to find some woke people or sympathizers of wokeism join the conservatives.

Woke people believe that trans women should be allowed to participate in women's sports competitions, because they identify themselves as women. It is therefore logical that society respects their identity and their right to practice a sport as women -- because such is their identity.

Opponents say it's not fair, because trans women have an advantage: they were born male and have a genetic predisposition which gives them an edge, for example musculature or endurance. They explain that these genetic differences are the reason why women and men do not directly compete against each other in sports. 

For them, it is therefore for the sake of fairness that trans women must be prohibited from taking part in women’s sports events. It was this position that prompted the USA Powerlifting federation to ban JayCee Cooper, a transgender female athlete, from participating in events reserved for biologically female athletes.

'Unfair' to Biological Females

But Cooper, who challenged that decision in court, just won, according to Fox News.

"With Cooper's victory comes a mandate the federation 'cease and desist from all unfair discriminatory practices' because of sexual orientation and gender identity," the news outlet reported. 

The federation has two weeks to revise its policy, which means to allow transgender women to compete with cisgender women.

"This is extremely unfair to anyone with XX chromosomes!" Musk, who has a transgender daughter, lamented on Mar. 6. 

To be clear, the billionaire's trans daughter petitioned last year for a name change, saying in court documents that "I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form."

Generally, biological females have two X chromosomes (XX), while individuals who were born biologically male have one X and one Y chromosome (XY).

Basically, the Techno King, as Musk is known at Tesla  (TSLA) - Get Free Report, feels that this verdict is a big setback for biological women. There is no doubt that given the billionaire's influence, his position will inflame this already very divisive debate.

"Rome in its final days," a Twitter user commented, referring to the fall of the Roman empire.

"It's pure lunacy. Women no longer exist in powerlifting. Hard to imagine anything more misogynistic," said another Twitter user.
