Bob Myers is a four-time NBA Champion, but he admits he's still got a lot to learn as he moves to on-camera work on ESPN.

The former Golden State Warriors general manager is the newest member of ESPN's NBA talents, and made his debut on "NBA Countdown" over the weekend. Speaking to the media on a call on Oct. 16, Myers addressed his preparation heading into his new role.

He credited one of his co-studio analysts Stephen A. Smith for giving him the best advice he's received so far.

"Stephen A. said just be yourself," Myers said. "I thought that was good to hear because something you think on TV or in media, you have to be a different person. I just wouldn't do a good job at that, I won't think. So it's nice to hear someone say, 'Just be this guy. The same guy you are.'"

Myers also cited another good piece of advice from Tim Corrigan, ESPN's vice president of production, who told him that it's "okay not to talk" when calling games.

"Whether it's play-by-play or color, you don't have to talk all the time," Myers said. "I just think that might be a hard adjustment, but that's seemingly, to me, really good advice and I hope I can use it."

Myers is a two-time NBA Executive of the Year, but his role with ESPN is his work in front of the camera. Other than his NBA executive experience, Myers has been a sports agent for Wasserman Media Group.

He's going to be working alongside Smith and Mike Wilbon, both of whom he said he's known for a few years now. He said he's only now getting acquainted with "NBA Countdown" host Malika Andrews.

He said he's taking his time as he grows more accustomed to the new role while also learning from the experienced folks around him.
