Google Adds a Travel Search Feature Bargain Hunters Will Love

Three new features are on the way to help make booking your next trip easier.

Spring is generally when people lock in their vacation plans for the summer. While there’s something to be said for the spontaneity of a last-minute trip, generally the farther out you plan, the more money you save -- and the more likely you are to snag a nice hotel room or premium airline seat.

But if you’re the sort to procrastinate, or you just haven’t gotten around to planning a summer trip, then Google  (GOOG) - Get Free Report has good news for you.

Google Changes How You Search for Travel

The internet giant has announced that it is introducing three new Search features that will make it easier to research hotels, book a plane ticket and discover activities to do while on vacation.

It launched a new “price guarantee” badge for flights, which means that the company believes the price you see for a ticket will not go any lower. So if you book a flight with Google, the company will monitor the price, and if it drops, it will refund you the difference back. You can already see whether the current listed prices are low, typical or high compared to historical averages.

It'll also send you back the price difference via Google Play.

“We’ll monitor the price every day until departure, and if it does go down, we’ll send you back the difference via Google Pay,” the company stated in a post. “Now you can book with the confidence that you’re not missing out on a great deal. During this pilot program, price guarantees are only available for ‘Book on Google’ itineraries that depart from the United States.”

Google Also Upgraded Its Hotel Search Features

We do everything from dating to ordering food via our phones these days, and now if you are looking for a hotel via your model device, you’ll have the option to explore each property in a swipe-able story format.

You can tap through photos to get a sense of what the hotel looks like, and you can also save the hotel, get more details about the city and view a summary of what people say about the place.

You can also plan your vacation via Google, as you now have the option to look for things to do in a city on Search or Maps. You’ll find prices directly on listing, along with a link to book a ticket and suggestions for what to check out.
