Hamare Baarah: Bombay High Court Lifts Ban on Annu Kapoor’s Film After Makers Agree to DELETE Two Dialogues

The Bombay High Court on Friday allowed the makers of Hamare Baarah to release the film on the big screen. The decision comes after the makers agreed to delete two dialogues from their movie. After the trailer of the film went online, it made headlines due to its controversial dialogues. The trailer faced massive backlash, and soon after, the team of Hamare Baarah started to receive death threats. Amid this, the Bombay High Court imposed a stay on its release just two days before its scheduled date, extending it till June 14. Now, with the removal of the ban, Hamare Baarah will be released on its original date – June 7, 2024.

According to the current scenario, a report by India Today revealed that the High Court announced its decision, stating that it was doneonly to balance the equities. The court also felt thatthe film may also be required to be viewed to draw any conclusion with regard to the rival contentions.Further, the report claimed that the court asked to form a three-member committee, which includes at least one Muslim member, who will watch the Annu Kapoor-starrer and report back.

Since the release of the Hamare Baarah trailer, it has sparked debates. While one segment of society alleges that the trailer features glimpses of uncouth, crude, and communal propaganda, another says that the movie addresses a social concern, which is overpopulation. Netizens also said that the trailer of the film is disturbing and canpoisonthe minds of an entire generation. For the unversed, the trailer of the film was pulled down from all online platforms amid the controversies.

Meanwhile, a few days earlier, Annu Kapoor, who will be featured as the lead, received death threats. The actor sought police security due to the threats. Further, the actor also slammed people for judging the film without even watching it. During a conversation with News18, the actor said,At a personal and an impersonal level, I’m an atheist. My director and producers thought that I was the right person who would be able to implement their vision on celluloid. So, I tried my best to justify my character. I’m not bothered about the rest.”

He further added,Films are a make-believe world where I’m chosen as an artist and my job is to justify my art. People talk about propaganda all the time. I’m not bothered about it. I would urge people to watch the film first and then decide what our film stands for. They haven’t watched it, so I don’t understand why they’re judging it.”
