The former gets a loosener from Shami, a short-of-length delivery going down leg, and tickles it past the keeper towards the fine leg fence to collect an easy four. Shami follows it up with a couple of short ball to Rashid down the leg side, both of which are signalled wide. Rashid collects a second boundary for himself with a crisp cover drive in the penultimate delivery before getting his off stump flattened in the final ball of the over to depart for 13, leaving England just one wicket away from another disastrous loss.

For now, the pair at least manage to get England past the 100-mark with three singles in Kuldeep’s seventh over. India are two wickets away from victory in Lucknow.

Missed the ball completely while going for the sweep, and was hit right in front of off and middle. Reluctantly goes for the review — he might as well, given he's the last recognised batter and is well set. Three reds on Hawk-Eye, and he's off! India return to spin from both ends after getting the breakthrough thanks to Shami’s two-over burst. Kuldeep replaces him and continues operating in the middle overs alongside Jadeja. There’s a fair amount of dew at the Ekana at the moment, and despite that the Indian spinners are able to remain effective.

FOUR! First boundary conceded by Shami today and will not only take him by surprise, but will also annoy him a tad and might elicit a couple of bouncers aimed at the batter’s throat. Woakes decided to take the aerial route over the covers with an inside out loft, and got enough timing on the shot for the ball to scurry all the way to the fence.

Three singles conceded by Jadeja in his fourth over as England craw to 84/6 at the halfway stage of their chase. They’re not out of the game yet, not with Livingstone and Woakes still at the crease and the fact that even No 11 Mark Wood can hit a few deliveries out of the park. Earlier in Kuldeep’s fifth over, the left-arm wrist spinner did not push for a review after an LBW appeal against Livingstone, thinking the ball was too high. Hawk-Eye though, shows three reds, with the ball hitting  the leg stump. England would have been seven down now with Livingstone back in the hut if they went with the review.

FOUR! Another misfield by Siraj in the deep, this time in front of the square-leg fence. Not quite his day today, with the Hyderabadi pacer having also leaked runs earlier in the powerplay. Livingstone got down on one knee and went for a sweep after Kuldeep decided to take a bit of pace off his delivery. Kuldeep appeals for LBW in the next ball after Livingstone misses while attempting a pull, and shows no inclination for a review after it's turned down, given how high it was.

Spin from both ends now with Rohit bringing in Ravindra Jadeja in place of Siraj in the 19th over, with the left-arm finger spinner conceding three in his first over. Kuldeep catches Livingstone off guard with another jaffa in the following over, beating his inside edge with one that turns in sharply though unlike in Buttler’s case, it ends up missing the off stump. The Indians spinners are giving nothing away at the moment and are doing a superb job in maintaining the pressure levels after the early inroads by Bumrah and Shami. At the end of the 20th, England need 162 more to win from 180 balls with five wickets in hand.

FOUR! A welcome boundary for England — their first in eight overs — with new batter Liam Livingstone pulling a short-of-length delivery from Siraj towards the vacant fine leg fence. They’re going at the same pace as India while having lost an extra wicket, and can still claw their way back if they get a partnership like the one between Rohit and SKY.

With the field spread out and two new batters at the crease, both of whom are battling nerves at the moment, Siraj will back himself to bowl a much tidier spell after getting off to an expensive start. He concedes just one in his third over. Shami continues from the other end and also concedes just a single. India’s fielding is also electric at the moment and they’re doing their part to maintain the pressure levels on Buttler and Moeen.

BOWLED! Bairstow doesn't last long after the reprieve as he ends up getting bowled by Shami for 14! With that, England have lost their top four with a little more than 30 on board, and India suddenly find themselves in the driver's seat! The ball first took a deflection off the inside edge followed by Bairstow's thigh before landing on the off stump. Shami's on a hat-trick after that wicket, and bowls out a tidy third over in which he concedes just a single to new batter Moeen Ali. End of the opening powerplay, one that saw the English openers collect 26 in the first four overs, and just 13 off the next six while losing four wickets in the process.
