India women vs England women, 3rd T20I preview: Team India will be aiming for a consolation victory when they face England in the third and final T20I in Mumbai on Sunday.

England won the toss and opted to field in the series finale. The visitors made as many as four changes to their lineup while India opted to bring in Amanjot Kaur for Pooja Vastrakar.

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Women in Blue surrendered the three-T20I series to the Englishwomen with back-to-back defeats at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, suffering a 38-run defeat on Wednesday followed by a four-wicket defeat on Saturday.

The hosts produced one of their shoddiest batting performances ever in the second T20I, getting bundled out for 80 — their third-lowest T20I total — after being invited to bat by England skipper Heather Knight.

Jemimah Rodrigues’ 33-ball 30 was the only bright spot in the innings and opener Smriti Mandhana (10) was the only other Indian batter to enter double figures.

The Indian bowlers tried fighting back after an expensive start by Renuka Singh, snaring as many as six wickets. A target of 81 in a T20I, however, was always going to be tough to defend and one solid partnership between Alice Capsey and Nat Sciver-Brunt, worth 42, was all it took for them to pull off a successful chase.

The two sides will play a one-off Test at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium after the three T20Is. India will then host ODI and T20I world champions Australia in a multi-format series after the England fixtures.
