IPL 2023 Points Table, Orange and Purple Cap list: KKR move to seventh, keep playoff hopes alive after beating CSK

Kolkata’s spinners came to the party on a tough Chepauk wicket, with Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy grabbing two wickets each to restrict Chennai to a modest 144/6 after they opted to bat. Nitish Rana and Player of the Match Rinku Singh then struck half-centuries and shared a 99-run fourth-wicket stand to setup a six-wicket victory with nine deliveries to spare.

While CSK remained second on the points table with 15 points to their name and remain favourites for a top-four finish, KKR moved to the seventh spot with the victory and have six days off before facing Lucknow Super Giants in their final group match on Saturday.

Earlier on Sunday, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bounced back from consecutive defeats with a 112-run thrashing of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur. RCB posted a competitive 171/5 after opting to bat thanks to fifties from skipper Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell.

It was the bowling department that stole the show however, as Wayne Parnell’s three-wicket burst triggered a spectacular collapse for the Royals, who were bundled out for 59 — their second-lowest total ever and the third-lowest overall.
