IPL 2023 Points Table, Orange and Purple Cap list: MI surge to third place with six-wicket win over RCB

Suryakumar Yadav (83) and Nehal Wadhera (52*) helped Mumbai Indians (MI) script a six-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Match 54 of IPL 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.

The win took MI to third place with 12 points, providing themselves a boost in the hopes for playoffs qualification. The defeat for RCB, however, meant that they slipped a place down to seventh, and face tough competition with the likes of RR, KKR and PBKS in their bid to make the knockout stage.

MI had won the toss and opted to field first. Virat Kohli failed to fire, but knocks from skipper Faf du Plessis (65) and Glenn Maxwell (68) led RCB to 199/6.

Rohit Sharma’s batting problems continued after he was dismissed for seven, but it was a 140-run stand between Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera that led them to victory.

Gujarat Titans (GT) lead the points table with 16 points from 11 matches, followed by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in second place. Mumbai Indians (MI) Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) complete the top four.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are the bottom two teams with eight points each.
