IT Minister Chandrasekhar asks social media platforms to take prompt action on fake videos
Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Electronics and Information Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Tuesday stated the punishment for spreading fake videos.
The statement, as reported by News18, reiterated the 3 years of punishment and a Rupees 1 lakh penalty for those found guilty of sharing fake videos.
This comes a day after a deep fake video of actor Rashmika Mandana went viral.

The statement advised those aggrieved to immediately file an FIR and raise a complaint with the social media platforms where the videos have been shared. The minister also asked the intermediaries, the websites, to immediately remove such content after a complaint has been lodged.
