J&K's zero tolerance against terrorism: Doctor, cop among 4 govt employees sacked for alleged terror links

The Jammu and Kashmir government Wednesday sacked four government employees, including a policeman and a doctor, citing their involvement in terror activities.

The four Jammu and Kashmir government officials have been terminated from services in accordance with 311 (2) (c) of the Constitution of India which empowers the government to take such actions in the interest of national security.

The Jammu and Kashmir government did not reveal specific details about the nature of the terror activities in which these individuals were allegedly involved.

The government employees terminated include a doctor, a police constable, a teacher, and a lab bearer in the higher education department.

1- Dr Nisar-Ul-Hassan, Assistant Professor (Medicine), SMHS Hospital Srinagar

2- Abdul Majeed Bhat from Kupwara, a Constable in Jammu and Kashmir Police

3- Abdul Salam Rather from Kulgam, Laboratory bearer in Higher Education Department

4- Farooq Ahmad Mir a teacher in Education Department from Kupwara.

The general administration department of the J&K government has also issued seperate orders stating that the lieutenant governor is “satisfied after considering the facts and circumstances of the case and the basis of information available” that their activities are such as to warrant dismissal from service.

The dismissal of the four government officers follows J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s policy of “zero tolerance against terrorism.”

“Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, after considering the facts and circumstances of these individual cases and on the basis of the information available, is satisfied that the activities of the following persons are such as to warrant their dismissal from their service,” the order read.

In the last three years, the Union Territory administration has invoked 311 (2)(c) of the Constitution to sack more than 50 employees, who were allegedly drawing a salary from the public exchequer, however, they were helping Pakistani terror outfits, providing logistics to terrorists, propagating terrorists’ ideology, raising terror finances and furthering secessionist agenda, officials said.
