Killers of the Flower Moon review: Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro at their finest best in this Martin Scorsese film

The maverick filmmaker of Hollywood, Martin Scorsese has delivered several memorable blockbusters in his illustrious career of almost six decades. With his latest outing, Killers of the Flower Moon, he reunited with Leonardo DiCaprio (sixth collaboration) and Robert De Niro (tenth collaboration).

Based on the monumental book of the same name by David Grann, Killers of the Flower Moon garnered rave reviews in prestigious film festivals but does it live up to the expectations of the cinegoers? Let’s find out…

Talking about the plot, Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) moves to an oil-rich nation named Osage in the 1920s, where he is looking for livelihood after the war, however little does he know what’s waiting for him.

Narrating the little-known tragic story of Native American history, the master filmmaker makes us move with the underlying complexities of human emotions including greed and deception, which makes it a daunting experience. Despite a runtime of 3 hours and 26 minutes, the screenplay is watertight as no time is wasted on unnecessary things, in fact, many crucial elements are added beautifully by Scorsese to make this narrative intricate.

Special mention to the climax, which is proof of Martin Scorsese’s cinematic genius. It is a big surprise for any movie lover.

Talking about the performances, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro easily gave their career-best acts and ruled the screen as Burkhart and William Hale respectively. However, it is Lily Gladstone’s Mollie Brown Burkhart, who stole the show and gave a path-breaking performance. The character of Ernest is DiCaprio’s most layered character till date and he has definitely left no stone unturned to make it a memorable act among his fans and audiences.

Well, honestly, Killers of the Flower Moon is a strong contender to win in all the big categories of Director, Actor and supporting roles at the prestigious Oscars, 2024.
