Virat Kohli and Pat Cummins are among the nominees for the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year award, the International Cricket Council announced on Friday. Kohli, who had scored his 50th ODI century in the World Cup last year surpassing Sachin Tendulkar in the process, is one of the contenders to win the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy.

Pat Cummins, meanwhile, helped Australia clinch two major trophies, the ICC World Test Championship and the ODI World Cup, both by beating India in the final.

Cummins, who was the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year in 2019, has led his team from the front while scalping 59 wickets across Tests and ODIs last year.

Travis Head, who scored a century in the World Cup final, also features in the list, and so does Ravindra Jadeja, who registered career best figures of 7/42 during the second Test against Australia in New Delhi early in 2023.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who made his international debut in a Test against West Indies in July, has been named as a nominee for the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year.

Among the women, Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapathhu and Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner both feature among the nominees for the Rachel Heyhoe Flint Trophy for the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year as well as the Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year.

No Indian features in any of the women’s awards categories.
