Leaked Information Reveals Design Issues with Tesla Cybertruck
Running at least two years late, the Tesla Cybertruck reportedly has problems.
Tesla’s new Cybertruck is reportedly set to finally roll off assembly lines and into dealerships in 2024 – three years after its original production deadline.
Tesla’s massive fanbase is cooling its heels waiting for the new electronics-operated truck, with a reported 1.5 million preorders as of May 30, 2023, according to Electrek.

The online chatter on the Cybertruck delays covers a ton of ground rumor-wise, most of which remains unsubstantiated.
Now a leaked document from the so-called “Tesla Files” shines some real light on the electric truck’s delay issues, most of which seem design-related.
Confidential internal Tesla documents were leaked by a whistle-blower in May 2023, winding up in the German news publication Handelsblatt. The 23,000 documents were compiled inside Tesla over a seven-year period between 2015 and 2022.
As the leaks continue to drop, some of the more high-profile papers point to engineering flaws with the Cybertruck, according to Wired. A leaked document dated Jan. 25, 2022, cited design problems with the truck’s suspension, body sealing, noise levels, and braking.
An automotive engineer told Wired the design issues weren’t catastrophic but should've and could've been avoided.
Cybertruck Performance Issues Are Cited
“My first reaction is I am astounded,” the engineer said. “These are classic mechanical automotive engineering challenges that you have in pretty much any vehicle. I'm blown away that they would be struggling so much with the basics.”
The leaked document also cites other performance issues, including “high head toss accelerations,” “structural shake” and "excessive midspeed abruptness and chop.”
There’s some reason for hesitation if Tesla doesn’t address the issue with potential buyers. And Tesla and CEO Elon Musk have been dead silent on how much the Cybertruck will cost.
Musk does reportedly have a high-profile Cybertruck delivery event in the third quarter of 2023 and also has plans to ship about 375,000 units in 2024.

Musk hasn’t said much about the document leaks but the mounting problems attached to the Cybertruck are no doubt reaching once eager buyers.
Whether they'll eat their $100 Cybertruck deposits and wait for cleaner versions of the vehicle isn't known -- but it’s certainly not helping Tesla's Cybertruck marketing efforts.
