Murder most foul: Canadian man mailed poison to suicidal people across world, killing 88

Canadian authorities have charged Kenneth Law, a 58-year-old man, with 14 counts of second-degree murder. Initially accused of counseling or aiding suicide, Law is now implicated in the deaths of individuals aged 16 to 36 across Ontario.

Law is alleged to have sent approximately 160 poisonous packages within Canada and over 1,200 to addresses in over 40 countries. Inspector Simon James of the York police emphasized the gravity of the situation during a press conference, stating, “It’s clearly significant to be laying this many charges, and that’s not taken lightly by the investigative team.”

While the victims’ identities and the reason for upgraded charges remain undisclosed, Law’s global impact is distressing. The UK’s National Crime Agency identified 272 individuals who purchased items from Canadian websites linked to Law, resulting in 88 reported deaths.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corp reported a potential connection between Law and 117 deaths worldwide, with authorities in multiple countries confirming receipt of his packages. Law, currently incarcerated, is scheduled to appear in court on December 19.

Law allegedly exploited various websites to target victims, presenting a challenge for law enforcement due to the international nature of these platforms. If found guilty, Law would be marked as one of Canada’s most notorious mass murderers, rivaling tragic events like the 2020 shooting in Nova Scotia where 22 lives were lost.
