Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana On Hold; Ranbir Kapoor-Sai Pallavi Starrer Faces Copyright Issues

Mumbai: Director Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana faced some early setbacks before cameras finally rolled this year. Filming began at Mumbai’s Film City after a delay to refine the costumes. This delay involved thorough planning, adjustments, and crucial look tests with the revised outfits for the actors. Despite a change in production leadership with Madhu Mantena’s exit, the project hasn’t been without its challenges. While Mantena’s departure initially fueled speculation of a creative shift, recent reports indicate he’s requested a pause in filming until a compensation agreement is reached. Scroll down to find more details.

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Gets Halted, Here’s Why

A recent copyright infringement claim has reportedly halted filming for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana epic, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama alongside Sunny Deol, Yash, and Sai Pallavi. A news report published by Mid Day indicates, the shooting continued briefly after the notice but has been on hold since last week. The report confirms that filming will only resume after the legal issues are resolved and a consensus is reached.

Although filming is paused for now, the production company insists the movie isn’t scrapped. They expect to resume shooting in roughly three weeks. The hold-up is due to scheduling issues with the main cast.

Due to scheduling conflicts with other projects, the filming of the upcoming Ramayana movie will be divided into two parts. To accommodate the actors’ busy schedules, the production team is creating a filming plan that minimizes disruptions. This epic tale will be brought to life as a grand saga in two installments, with a planned six-month gap between their releases.

The decision to film Ramayana in two parts stems from the sheer scale and intricate nature of the story itself. Director Nitesh Tiwari and his team believe this approach is necessary to faithfully capture the essence of the Ramayana. Unlike typical productions where a sequel hinges on the first film’s success, Ramayana will be filmed concurrently, ensuring a complete narrative regardless of the first part’s reception.
