Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha shared undeniable on-screen chemistry that captivated audiences. The duo has been loved by many and is most often often is often called one amongst the foremost iconic couples in Bollywood. Amitabh and Rekha appeared together in several films, including Mr. Natwarlal, Do Anjaane, and Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. On the opposite hand, one film that actually stood out was Silsila, which captured the hearts of the target market. The movie also starred Jaya Bachchan (Amitabh Bachchan’s wife), Rekha, and Big B, and is believed to mirror their real-life story. For those unaware, Rekha was rumoured to be deeply in love with Amitabh, but he married Jaya Bachchan, creating what was an iconic love triangle.

In a candid interview with Filmfare magazine in 2006, Rekha unfolded in regards to the emotional depth of their performances in Silsila. She said, “Dukh toh is baat ka hai ke maine anjaane mein tumhe dukh pahunchaaya hai” (The sadness lies within the undeniable undeniable fact that unknowingly, I in general have hurt you). Praising Amitabh, Rekha expressed admiration for his acting skills, calling his craft “amazing” and his portrayal “real.” She added, “No wonder the sector believed that the triangle was for real.”

Rekha also fondly reminisced in regards to the timeless song “Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum,” one amongst Bollywood’s most romantic tracks, which continues to evoke strong emotions in fans. “My fans write to me that Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye is one amongst my most romantic songs ever and ask if it was for real,” she said. For Rekha, this response is a testament to the film’s ability to deeply resonate with audiences. “Somehow the target market catches on and wants to remember the fact that the vibe is real,” she added.

Interestingly, the casting of Silsila has its own backstory. While Rekha and Jaya Bachchan’s roles was legendary, it’s now not widely known that Parveen Babi was at the origin cast because the female lead. In an interview with ANI, Ranjeet, who also starred within the film, revealed that Parveen was in the origin set to play the role but was replaced by reason of the an argument. In some way, Rekha and Jaya Bachchan took on the roles.
