Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha proceedings adjourned till 2 pm

The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were postponed till 2 p.m. on Friday, as opposition MPs shouted shouts demanding Union Home Minister Amit Shah's explanation on the Parliament security lapse.

Opposition MPs put up posters and raised chants as soon as the Houses convened at 11 a.m. The opposition MPs have been calling for a debate on the security breach that occurred two days ago.

They are also pursuing legal action against the BJP MP who granted the permits for the two persons who leaped into the Lok Sabha chamber on Wednesday from the visitors' gallery.

Opposition MPs stage protest

Opposition MPs, including suspended MPs, stage a protest in front of the Gandhi statue on Parliament premises, in Delhi.

A total of 14 MPs - 13 from Lok Sabha and 1 from Rajya Sabha - were suspended yesterday for the remainder of the winter session.

Prime accused Lalit Jha fled after making video of security breach incident, says Delhi Police

Parliament security breach accused, Lalit Mohan Jha had fled from the spot after making a video of the incident, Delhi Police said.

Delhi police also added that the accused reached Nagaur in Rajasthan by bus.

The accused met his two friends and spent the night in a hotel. When he realized that the police were searching for him, he came to Delhi by bus after which he was arrested, said Delhi Police.

Opposition demands statement from Home Minister Amit Shah

Leaders of several opposition parties urged on Thursday that Home Minister Amit Shah provide a statement on the topic of the Parliament security breach, followed by a debate in both Houses.

Leaders of various parties voiced the issue in both chambers of Parliament as well as outside in protest of the breach. They emphasised the importance of Parliament's security and the necessity for it to be debated.

Parliament security breach brought focus on unemployment issue, say Opposition MPs

Opposition lawmakers said Thursday that the security breach in the Lok Sabha highlighted the country's unemployment problem and showed flaws in security systems.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi was telling the opposition not to let out the anger of assembly poll defeat during the Parliament session. Now, people have themselves come to the House to vent their anguish,” Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury told reporters here.

He said that the demonstrators who broke into the Lok Sabha chamber showed flaws in Parliament House security. According to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, the young who penetrated Parliament security were expressing the country's discontent with unemployment and inflation. He stated that individuals involved in the security breach were not terrorists.

Amit Shah to move three bills on criminal laws in LS for consideration, passage

On Friday, when Parliament reconvenes for Day 12 of the present Winter Session, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will introduce three modified criminal code bills for discussion and passage, which would replace the IPC, CrPc, and Indian Evidence Act.

The Home Minister earlier last week introduced the Bharatiya Nyaya (Second) Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Sakshya (Second) Bill, 2023, and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha (Second) Sanhita, 2023 in Lok Sabha.

The government has withdrawn three measures that were submitted in the Lok Sabha on the last day of Parliament's Monsoon Session to reform the criminal justice system.

On Friday, when Parliament reconvenes for Day 12 of the present Winter Session, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will introduce three modified criminal code bills for discussion and passage, which would replace the IPC, CrPc, and Indian Evidence Act.
