Ramayan: How Ranbir Kapoor's prep to play Lord Ram involves quitting alcohol and meat for Nitesh Tiwari's magnum opus

After Animal, which saw Ranbir Kapoor in a fragile and ferocious character that’s still attracting debatable reactions, he plays what is arguably his most challenging and ambitious character- Lord Ram. He plays this character in Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus Ramayan, which will see Yash and Sai Pallavi too.

Sources revealed that South beauty Sai Pallavi enjoys a clean, controversy-free image, whereas that is not the case for Rockstar actor Ranbir Kapoor. Although the Sanju star is not exactly a wild child, he is definitely not Sri Ram in his personal life either.

Sources further added that Ranbir Kapoor will be staying away from alcohol and meat during the shoot of Ramayana. Sources also informed, “These are not things he would avoid just for his public image, but also as a dedicated actor Ranbir wants to feel as pure and clean as Sri Rama. In any case, Ranbir is not into late nights and wild parties.”

It was also reported by Pinkvilla earlier that all three leads Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash have already completed their respective look tests for the movie. In the meantime, Alia Bhatt was also reportedly approached for the role of Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana opposite husband Ranbir Kapoor. However, the diva had to turn down the project for some unknown reasons.

Undoubtedly, there are hits and misses in his filmography, but one can’t deny his wide range of acting, which he has shown in his 16 years of journey. Right from playing charming boy-next-door characters in Bachna Ae HaseenoYeh Jawaani Hai DeewaniAnjaana Anjaani and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar to impressing the audience with his grey shade in Prakash Jha’s Raajneeti.
