Ricky Ponting joins Punjab Kings as head coach ahead of IPL 2025, replaces Trevor Bayliss

New Delhi: A pair of months after being sacked by Delhi Capitals, Ricky Ponting has been roped in by Punjab Kings as the head coach for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, the franchise announced on Wednesday. With Shikhar Dhawan announcing his retirement last month, Punjab Kings would want a captain first of all. Meanwhile, Ponting has been related to IPL since 2008. He started as a player for Kolkata Knight Riders sooner than joining Mumbai Indians as captain in 2013. On the other hand, he stepped down from the role midway within the identical season.
