Rohit Sharma SHOULD be RELEASED by Mumbai Indians Ahead of IPL 2025 Mega Auction. Here’s WHY!

Mumbai: Without a doubt, Rohit Sharma is arguably the best white-ball batter of the generation. While this is debatable, there is no doubt that this is surely not his last year at the IPL. Most certainly, Rohit would be back for IPL 2025 – but will he don the MI blue or will it be some other colour? This is the question that has sparked massive speculations among fans. Rohit is 37 and in a few days time, he would be leading the national side at another T20 World Cup. Reports suggest that it will be his last shot at the marquee event.

Here are a few reasons why MI can release Rohit ahead of the 2025 Mega auction.

Poor IPL 2024: There has been a change of captaincy and while that has not helped MI win games and be in the race for the playoff, Rohit’s form has been concerning as well. While MI still has a few more games to go and Rohit would look to finish the season on a high, he would know deep within that he did not come good when the team needed him most. Apart from a century against CSK that went in vain, there has not been much to speak about Rohit’s form with the bat.

Age, Not on His Side: At best Rohit can play IPL for two or three more seasons. Hardik has been backed as the future of MI. Now, with an established player like Hardik there, the presence of another alpha figure in the dressing-room may not be ideal from the former’s point of view. Hardik would like to build his own team and Rohit does not feature in the scheme of things.
