Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli Not Make Same Mistake They… – Sanjay Manjrekar’s BOLD Verdict Ahead of T20 World Cup 2024

Mumbai: We are less than a week away from the start of the much-anticipated T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies. While India start favourites, one understands that senior players – Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli – would be key to the side’s fortunes. Claiming that a lot has changed from 2022, former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar reckoned Kohli is an absolutely different player in T20Is than what he used to be two seasons ago.

“Rohit and Virat will not commit the same mistakes made in that semis (2022 vs England). It’s worth acknowledging that Virat is not the same T20 player he was two years ago. He must know deep down, surely, that the ‘outside noise’ has actually made him a better T20 batter today than he was two years ago,” Manjrekar wrote in his column on Hindustan Times.

Kohli has been in ominous form with the bat in the recently-concluded IPL. With 741 runs in 15 games, Kohli bagged the Orange Cap for being the highest run-getter.

The former India captain is currently on a sanctioned break and would be joining the side in New York ahead of their first game versus Ireland.

“Kohli had informed us way beforehand that he will be joining the team late and that is why the BCCI has kept his visa appointment for a later date. He is expected to fly out to New York in the early morning of May 30th. The BCCI has agreed to his request,” a BCCI official told Indian Express.
