The megastar of Bollywood and King of Romance delivered several memorable films and box office blockbusters like Baazigar, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Karan Arjun, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Darr, Mohabbatein, Dil To Pagal Hai, Veer-Zaara, Chennai Express and many others.
However, post Happy New Year (2014), SRK’s film underperformed at the ticket windows with Zero (2018) turning out to be a colossal disappointment.
However, after a hiatus gap of over 4 years, the megastar made a roaring comeback and delivered an all-time blockbuster with Pathaan. The spy-actioner costarring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham shattered all the records and emerged as the highest-grossing Bollywood film in the country with an insane collection of Rs 543.05 crore.
Now, eight months after the Siddharth Anand directorial, SRK has arrived with another monstrous blockbuster in the form of Jawan, which has turned out to be rage across the globe. In India, the film currently stands with a grand total of around Rs 480 crore (Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions) and is still going super strong at the box office.
The total collections of both films have already crossed the Rs 1000 crore mark in the domestic market, and this is the first time an actor has achieved such kind of feat in the history of Indian cinema. While Jawan is looking to surpass the lifetime business of Pathaan, SRK also has one more biggie coming up this year. Yes, it is Dunki with the blockbuster filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, which also stars Taapsee Pannu in a prominent role.
Well, Hirani enjoys a 100 per cent success ratio with blockbusters like Munna Bhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, 3 Idiots, PK and Sanju and we can expect him to continue his winning streak with Dunki.
The film is arriving during the Christmas weekend and looking at the current megastardom, it won’t be surprising if Dunki shatters the record of Jawan and Pathaan at the box office.
