Saudi Arabia to host Joint Arab Islamic summit in response to 'unprecedented circumstances in Gaza'

Saudi Arabia on Saturday will host a Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit in response to the “unprecedented circumstances in Gaza,” according to Saudi’s Foreign Ministry.

Initially, the plan was to hold two separate Arab and Islamic Summits. The joint summit will replace the two separate gatherings, the ministry said.

In a statement posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, the ministry said, “In response to the unprecedented circumstances in Gaza, and after the consultation of Saudi Arabia with the League of the Arab States and the OIC, it was decided to hold a Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit in an exceptional manner on November 11, 2023.”
