New Delhi: Actor and BJP member Kangana Ranaut filed her nomination for the Lok Sabha election from her hometown, Mandi on Tuesday. She later spoke to the media and thanked the party and her followers for trusting her. After enjoying success in the film industry, the actor mentioned that she is looking forward to having the same success in the political world. Kangana‘s mother, Asha Ranaut and her sister and manager Rangoli Ranaut, joined her as she filed her nomination.

Kangana told ANI after filing the nomination and said, “Today I have filed nomination from Mandi LS seat. It is a matter of pride for me to have the opportunity to contest from Mandi. I have been successful in Bollywood and I am hopeful that I will get success in the field of politics as well (sic).” She added that she is proud of the people of Mandi, especially women who are making a name for themselves across sectors. “The people of Mandi and their love for me have brought me here. Women in our country are making a mark in every field but incidents of feticide in Mandi were high a few years ago. Today, the women from Mandi are in the Army, the field of education and politics,” she went on to highlight the contribution of the people of Mandi.

Kangana has been actively campaigning in Himachal Pradesh for the ongoing Lok Sabha election. The voting in Mandi is scheduled to take place on June 1. The actor, meanwhile, is engaged in organising road shows, public gatherings and special meetings at her house to attract more votes for the party. The BJP has fielded Kangana as their maiden member against veteran Congress leader Virbhadra Singh’s son, Vikramaditya Singh.
