Sushmita Sen on marriage plans with beau Rohman Shawl: 'I don't give a damn about it but...'

The spotlight is back on Bollywood actress and former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen, as the actress revealed that she has no plans of getting married. The Bollywood diva is presently in a relationship with model-actor Rohman Shawl.

There were reports of reconciliation and marriage plans after the two had a breakup. But during an interview with Film Companion, the actor denied all the wedding rumours about her with Rohman Shawl and said that she “doesn’t give a damn about it.” The Taali actress, who is currently promoting the third season of the web series Aarya, also said that for her friendship and freedom are very important.

While speaking to the entertainment news portal, Sushmita Sen shared her perspective on marriage. She said, “I know the whole world thinks I should give a damn about, at this stage at least, settling down. But I don’t give a damn about it. Important to mention it’s only because I love and respect the institution of marriage. I do, very much.”

“I have the blessing of knowing some incredible people, including my Aarya director (Ram Madhvani) and my producer (Amita Madhvani), who are one of the most beautiful couples I know. But I am a big believer of companionship, dosti (friendship). And if that exists, things can happen. But that respect and Dosti is very, very important. And freedom, very very important. So, I give a damn about freedom,” she concluded.

Initially, the former Miss Universe was romantically involved with model Rohman Shawl, whom she met through Instagram in 2018, but ended the relationship with him in 2021. Taking to the Instagram handle, Rohman Shawl wrote, “We began as friends, we remain friends! The relationship was long over… the love remains.”

Following a short-rumoured affair with business tycoon Lalit Modi, Sushmita rekindled her relationship with Rohman Shawl, and they were snapped holding hands at a couple of events.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Sushmita Sen entertained cinephiles with her gripping performance in the action-filled crime thriller ‘Aarya’ Season 3 Part 1. In the thriller show, directed by Ram Madhvani, Sushmita plays the role of a tough woman who goes beyond boundaries to protect her family from the world of crime. Notably, the first season of Aarya was nominated for the ‘Best Drama’ at the International Emmy Awards.
