The stadium is expected to be ready by the 2027 NFL season.

The Tennessee Titans just secured a record amount of public funding in order to build its new stadium.

Nashville’s Metro Council on April 25 passed the franchise’s $2.1 billion proposal for a domed stadium that is set to be ready by the 2027-28 NFL season. The Titans will receive $1.26 billion from public funding, which is the most ever for a US stadium.

The Buffalo Bills had the previous record of $850 million in public funding for their $1.4 billion stadium that’s set to be ready by the 2026 NFL season.

The Titans are still expected to pay about $840 million for the stadium through NFL loans and other sales.

The stadium plan was approved via final vote of 26-12 by Nashville’s city council. It’s expected to house 60,000 fans, and the city hopes it can leverage the arena to host Super Bowls, the College Football Playoffs, and NCAA Final Four games.

The most expensive NFL stadium belongs to the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers who share SoFi Stadium which cost a colossal $5 billion to construct. Allegiant Stadium, which houses the Las Vegas Raiders who moved to Sin City 2019, cost $1.9 billion.
