Two beloved automakers issue recalls affecting their bestselling models
The recalls by the legacy brands affect millions of cars on the roads.
Some of the most common, best-selling cars on the road are among the latest in recall trouble.
Two bestselling Japanese automakers, Honda (HMC) - Get Free Report and Toyota (TM) - Get Free Report have issued recalls regarding the safety of their most popular models.

In a statement by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Honda of America said that it is recalling about 2.5 million vehicles because the risk of fuel pump failure resulting in engine stalls while driving causing a crash.
The recall affects some of Honda and Acura's most popular vehicles, including the Accord, Civic, CR-V, HR-V, Ridgeline and the Odyssey, as well as the Acura ILX, MDX, MDX Hybrid, RDX, RLX and TLX from the 2018 to 2020 model years.
Additionally, the recall also affects the 2019-2020 model year Honda Insight and Passport, as well as the 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid, the 2018-2019 Honda Clarity PHEV, Honda Fit, and the 2017-2020 Honda Accord Hybrid and Acura NSX supercar. 
Honda is expected to notify owners of affected vehicles by February 2024. Affected cars can have their fuel pumps replaced free of charge by a Honda dealer.
Toyota, on the other hand has announced that it is recalling approximately one million 2020-2022 Toyota and Lexus vehicles over faulty airbag sensors. According to the automaker, a short circuit in a key sensor would not allow the airbag to deploy in a crash.
"[Affected vehicles] have Occupant Classification System (OCS) sensors in the front passenger seat that could have been improperly manufactured, causing a short circuit," Toyota said in a statement. "This would not allow the airbag system to properly classify the occupant’s weight, and the airbag may not deploy as designed in certain crashes, increasing the risk of injury."
The Toyota City-based company says that affect models include 2020-2021 Avalon, Highlander and RAV4 models and its hybrid models, as well as the 2020-2022 Camry and Camry Hybrid models, the 2020-2021 Corolla and the 2021 Sienna Hybrid. Additionally, the recall also affects several Lexus vehicles, including the 2021 ES250, 2020-2022 ES300H, 2020-2021 ES350, the 2020-2021 RX350 and the 2020-2021 RX450h.

Toyota and Lexus dealers will notify affected owners by mail by the middle of February 2024. Affected cars can have their sensors inspected by the dealer and faulty ones will be replaced at no additional cost to owners.
