Ukraine War: Another Nepali citizen killed while fighting for Russia

According to an official on Thursday, a soldier from Nepal who was serving in the Russian army has died in the continuing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Deputy Mayor of Pyuthan Municipality Devendra Brahma told the media that Sonu Sunar, of Pyuthan Municipality, was slain two weeks ago while participating in the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

On Wednesday, the slain soldier’s family was notified.

This is the eleventh time that Nepali citizens who were actively fighting for the Russian side have lost their lives in the conflict.

Over two hundred young Nepalis have enlisted in the Russian army, citing sources within the Foreign Ministry. Nepalis have been advised by the government not to enlist in the foreign army.

Additionally, Nepal has asked Russia to refrain from recruiting Nepali individuals into its armed forces and to return them home should it turn out that any of its countrymen have enlisted.

Additionally, the foreign ministry has asked Russia to reveal the entire number of Nepali soldiers serving in the Russian army as well as the number of soldiers wounded during the conflict. Additionally, it has requested information regarding their conditions from the Russian government.
