Lucknow: The people of Uttar Pradesh’s Bholanath colony on Sunday used boats to commute are the area suffered severe waterlogging. Amid the intense rain in the state, 14 deaths were reported in UP in the last 24 hours, said relief commissioner GS Naveen.

A statement issued by the department said, “Since June 28, Uttar Pradesh has received an average rainfall of 7.5 mm, which is 94.93 percent as compared to the normal rainfall of 7.9 mm. Thus, from June 1-28, the state received an average rainfall of 43.5 mm, which is 53.04% as compared to the normal rainfall of 82 mm.”

Naveen said that in the last 24 hours, no district in the state has recorded 30 mm or more rainfall.

Heavy Rains Likely To Lash Delhi Today

Delhi is likely to witness heavy rain on Sunday, with the Indian Meteorological Department issuing an ‘orange’ alert for the city till July 2. The national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, 0.9 notches below the season’s average. The humidity was 78 per cent at 8.30 am, the weather office said and added that it has recorded 9 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.

The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 34 degree Celsius, it stated. The weather department has predicted a generally cloudy sky with heavy rain till Tuesday. The IMD has four colour-coded warnings — ‘green’ (no action needed), ‘yellow’ (watch and stay updated), ‘orange’ (be prepared) and ‘red’ (take action).

The Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital was recorded in the satisfactory category with a reading of 97 at 9 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
