Uttarakhand, Delhi, UP and MP to witness heavy showers; IMD issues red alert

The IMD predicted on X that light to moderate rainfall at most places with Moderate to intense spells of rainfall at a few places may continue over Delhi and NCR during next 3 hours. It further added that more rainfall accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 kmph for the national capital until Friday.

Uttarakhand, Delhi, UP and MP to witness heavy showers; IMD issues red alert

The different parts of North India may witness heavy showers for next four days, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said while issuing a red alert for the region. The IMD forecast that individuals in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh will witness heavy to moderate rainfall. The department has issued an orange alert for Rajasthan, Delhi and Haryana.

A depression that formed over the Bay of Bengal and has now settled over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining southwest Uttar Pradesh is just a few of the factors for the downpour.

The IMD predicted on X that light to moderate rainfall at most places with Moderate to intense spells of rainfall at just a few places may continue over Delhi and NCR throughout next 3 hours. It further added that more rainfall accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 kmph for the national capital until Friday.

“Depression over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood near latitude 26.7°N and longitude 78.3°E, about 60 km south-southeast of Agra (Uttar Pradesh). To crawl north- north-northeast wards throughout the next 24 hrs. System is below continuous surveillance of Doppler Weather Radars at Delhi and Lucknow,” the weather agency said.

In accordance with their prediction, “fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall is extremely likely over Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh; isolated to scattered rainfall over the remaining region throughout the week.”

“Isolated very heavy rainfall is extremely likely over Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, and East Rajasthan throughout Sept. eleven to 13, and Haryana on September 12. Also, isolated heavy rainfall is extremely likely over Uttarakhand and Haryana throughout Sept. eleven to 14, and Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan throughout Sept. eleven to 15,” it said.
