World Cup 2023 Final: PM Narendra Modi, Australian Deputy PM Richard Marles reach Ahmedabad for extravaganza

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles arrived in Ahmedabad on Sunday evening to witness the ongoing Cricket World Cup final between India and Australia.

According to news agency PTI, PM Modi and Richard Marles are expected to reach the stadium later in the evening.

On his arrival at the airport, PM Modi was welcomed by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Governor Acharya Devvrat and the state’s BJP chief CR Paatil.

Soon after, Richard Marles was greeted by Chief Minister Patel on landing in Ahmedabad.

Having been asked to bat first, Virat Kohli (54) and KL Rahul (66) scored fifties but India were restricted to 240 after Australia’s pace trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood combined to take seven wickets.

At the time of writing this report, Australia were 69/3 in the 13^th over, with Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head unbeaten.
